Abstract

Dyestuffs of the formula: <FORM:0877910/IV (a)/1> where X is halogen and n is an integer of from 2-6 colour in bulk synthetic plastics such as polyamides, polyesters and polystyrene. In examples, compounds of the above formula where X is chlorine and n is 4 and where X is bromine and n is 3 are each used to colour an internal polyamide of omega-amino-undecanoic acid and a polyterephthalate of glycol violet-red shades. Specification 730,692 is referred to.ALSO:The invention comprises dyestuffs of the formula:- <FORM:0877910/IV(c)/1> where X is halogen and n is an integer from 2 to 6, and a process for making them by condensing naphthylene-1 : 8-diamine with a naphthalene-1 : 8-dicarboxylic acid containing more than one halogen atom in the molecule. The dyestuffs colour synthetic plastics in bulk red-violet shades. Specification 730,692 is referred to.
