Abstract

877,799. Stair rods. FRENCH & SONS Ltd., THOMAS. Feb. 24, 1960 [April 14, 1959], No. 12554/59. Class 52(5). A stair rod 11 is so formed that it has a C- shaped cross-section, the resultant slot 12 being so shaped at predetermined portions 13, 14 as to be engageable simultaneously with appropriately positioned securing means 16a, 16b in such manner that longitudinal movement of the rod 11 relatively to the securing means 16a, 16b in one direction secures the rod to such means and thereby secures the carpet 17 between the rod and the stair, one extreme end 12a of the slot being of increased dimensions and including an outwardly divergent shape, the other end of the slot being cut away at 14 to form an outwardly convergent portion in spaced disposition relative to the said end. Additional bracing struts 18 (Fig. 6) are provided to bridge the slot 12 and to prevent any opening of the slot.
