Abstract

877,003. Can-openers. FRENCH & SONS Ltd., THOMAS. Sept. 23, 1959 [Oct. 1, 1958], No. 31298/58. Class 66. A can opener of the kind consisting of a metal pressing 10 having a point 14 and claw 15 at one end, the main portions of the pressing forming a handle, is characterised in that the pointed end 14, whilst bent to lie at an angle out of the plane of the handle, is also cranked so that the actual point is within the overall plane or thickness of the rest of the opener, including the claw. At its other end the opener is round ended and cranked to a V-bend at the base of which is a claw 17 for use in removing crown stoppers from bottles. In a modification, Fig. 4, the point 14 is arcuate about the centre 19.
