876,751. Indexing books. GASPAR; R. Aug. 13, 1958 [Feb. 24, 1958; March 1, 1958], No. 25976/58. Class 16. In a book 1 the margin of the forward edge of each page 4 has a mark such as 9 or 10 thereon, the marks being staggered such that on. the forward edge 6 of the closed book there is visible at least two oblique stripes 7, 8, and an index page 11 on the back cover 3 of the book is provided with two similar oblique or vertical stripes 7a, 8a which are crossed by transverse lines 12a --- 12d, and indices are provided at the junctions of the lines and stripes. To find a particular subject in the book, the latter is thumbed open opposite the appropriate transverse line 12a &c and within the pages marked with the appropriate stripe 7 or 8. Each page has printed on the forward margin a square within which is printed the subject-matter to be found on that page, and that to be found on three. adjacent pages before and after that page. Further identification markings such as 112b, 112c are printed above each mark 9 or 10. Book covers:-Where the book 1 has hard covers 2, 3, flicking - of the pages is facilitated by arranging one cover, such as 2, in two rigid parts 19, 26, which are hinged together at 18. As shown, the cover 2 comprises abutting cardboard parts 19, 26, Fig. 4, the part 26 and the joining between the parts 19, 26 being covered by a flexible strip 21 on the outside, and by an elastic strip 22 on the inside face.
