876,420. Clothes line supports. LOTTA, R. P. April 21, 1960. No. 14064/60. Class 52 (5). [Also in Group XXX] A device for use in extending a clothes line between supports such as opposed walls 12, 13 (Fig. 1) comprises a plate 21 having a hole 41 in it and adapted to be mounted on the wall 12, two supports 31, 32 (Fig. 4) spaced apart and mounted on the plate 21 adjacent the hole 41 and projecting into a recess (Fig. 2) formed in the wall, a reel 14 disposed between the supports 31, 32 and mounted thereon to rotate about an axis 30 parallel to the plate 21, a line 11 wound on the reel 14 and having one end 40 attached to the reel and the other end projecting through the hole 41 in the plate, a ring 49 being attached to this end of the line, a second plate 52 (Fig. 1) adapted to be mounted on a second wall 13 and having a hook 50 fixed thereto to receive the ring 49 thereby holding the line 11 in an extended position between the plates 21, 52, and a spring 42 mounted to act between the support 32 and the reel 14 to urge the reel to rotate in a direction to rewind the line on the reel.
