Abstract

876,362. Electric heating resistances. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Feb. 5, 1960 [March 2, 1959], No. 7154/59. Class 39(3). Electric heating means comprises an inner metal tube 1 serving as an electric heating element and having a ceramic coating 2 and an outer metal tube 3 which may be in sections as shown. Tubes 1, 3 are of stainless steel and the sections of tube 3 are shrunk on to an alumina ceramic or "Rokide A" coating 2 sprayed on to tube 1. A.C. or D.C. is passed through tube 1 to heat it. Fuel element cans having cooling fins containing uranium for use in nuclear reactors may be pushed on to 3 or the heating device may be used in electric furnaces generally.
