Abstract

876,246. Heels; protectors. CLARK Ltd., C & J. Oct. 8, 1959 [Oct. 21, 1958], No. 33563/58. Classes 17 (2) and 17 (3) One or more dowels of moulded plastic material constitute binding means for the laminations of a heel and extend within or throughout the depth of the heel, each dowel being keyed in position by means of its enlarged ends. As shown, Fig. 5, the moulded bifurcated rods are provided with flush conical heads 3, 3a at the heel seat and with a heel top piece 6 which may be shaped simultaneously with the heel; pre-shaped or countersunk flush with the top face as in Fig. 9. These dowel heads may have a lead in for s screw or nail for attaching protectors. The dowel may be of unitary, dual or bifurcated construction as shown in Figs. 9, 8 and 5 respectively and may be provided with a plate 8, Fig. 13, which forms a heel seat face which may have blind holes 9 to serve as locating means during the machining of the heel.
