875,305. Sewing-machines. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Sept. 14, 1959 [Sept. 16, 1958], No. 31281/59. Class 112 The thread case carrier 4 of a rotary book has mounted within it a thread case 7, having a side wall 9 and a top wall 8, arranged to receive a cop of thread which does not include a bobbin. The thread case 7 is secured in the carrier by the engagement of one end 21 of a latch 19, which is slidably mounted on the top wall 8, with an aperture 22 in the carrier. The latch may be withdrawn, to remove the case, by the camming action of one end of a lever 26, pivoted at 27 to one end of the latch, against the edge of an aperture 29 in the wall 8. This withdrawing movement is limited by the engagement of a stop 30 with one end of a slot 31. An elongated pin 33 mounted on the latch moves from a slot 32 in the side wall, as the latch is withdrawn, to engage the thread cop and hold it within the case as the latter is withdrawn. The angular relationship between the thread case and the carrier is fixed by the co-operation of a stud 17 on the carrier wall with a slot 18 in the side wall 9. To prevent the thread case rattling in the carrier during operation of the hook the carrier has a pair of spaced apertures (see Fig. 5, not shown) through which the ends of a leaf spring extend into engagement with the periphery of the thread case.
