Abstract

875,206. Sheet-delivery apparatus. BUCCICONI ENGINEERING CO. Inc. Jan. 26, 1959 [Oct. 31, 1958], No. 2721/59. Class 100(1) Metal sheets 10, Fig. 2, are delivered to an overhead magnetic conveyer 14 by a conveyer 20. The conveyer 14 comprises a plurality of transversely spaced magnetic rails 22. Pulleys 28, driven by a motor 32, drive belts of the conveyer 14. A pile table 13, for receiving a pile 11 of sheets, comprises rollers 35 mounted in a frame supported at its corners by vertical screws, not shown, for vertical adjustment of the table. Adjustable side guides, e.g. 41, comprises a vertically disposed plate 43, Fig. 7, a channel member 45 with its open side facing the plate, and a curved section 46 forming a top edge for guiding the edge of the sheets towards the centre of the apparatus. The guide 41 is supported by carriages 47, 48, Fig. 5, slidably mounted on cross members 49 and 50. The carriage 47 comprises a vertical plate 52, a horizontal plate 53 carrying a channel-shaped slide member 54 which straddles the top of a cross rail 49, a bottom plate 57, and vertical plate 58. An adjusting screw 60 has right and left hand threads extending from the centre towards the ends and carries a nut 62 confined between legs 63 of a saddle 64. The screw 60 carries a pulley 65, Fig. 2, connected by a drive belt 66 to a motor 67. The guide 41, Fig. 5, has an end plate 69 and a base plate 70. A shaft 71 carries a pinion 72 engaging a rack 73 and a pinion 91 engaging a rack 92, thereby ensuring equal movement of each end of the guide upon adjustment effected by rotation of the screw 60. An angle bracket 81 secured to the guide 41 has a horizontal leg 82 slotted to receive a pin 84 screwed in a slide member 75, the pin being locked by a washer 85 and a cotter pin 86 which can shear readily upon substantial upward pressure being inadvertently applied to the guide 41. The guide 42 (Fig. 1, not shown) is mounted in an identical manner to the guide 41, such that the guides can be simultaneously adjusted toward and from the centre of the apparatus. An end stop 101, Fig. 2, is mounted on the centre rail 22 for adjustment longitudinally of the apparatus. A carriage 103, Fig. 11, is slidably mounted on a housing 102 the carriage having a plate 104 provided with brackets 105, 1051 pivotally supporting an air cylinder 107 having a piston rod 108. The piston rod 108 is connected to a pair of bell-crank levers 120, 1201 through lever 110, links 113, 114, and 115 (Fig. 10, not shown). The levers 120, 1201, Fig. 11, have flanges 122, 1221 connected by a plate 123 having bearing ears 124, 1241 fitting between spaced ears, e.g. 125<SP>1</SP> on plate 126 (Fig. 13, not shown), carrying a pad 127. A hinge pin 128, Fig. 11, extends through the ears 124, 1241 and 1251 to mount the plate 126 pivotally on the plate 123. The carriage 103, Fig. 11, has a channel member 132 slidably mounted on plates 133, 1331. A cage 136 secured to the member 132 has a nut, not shown, engaging a screw 142 driven by a motor 147, Fig. 2, for adjusting the position of the stop 101 longitudinally of the apparatus. Specification 793,995 is referred to.
