Class 86 A concrete mixer has an annular covered stationary mixing drum 1 with a vertical shaft 9 passing axially through the central space and rotated by a motor 25 through reduction gears 24, flexible coupling 23 and bevel gears 10, 19. The shaft 9 carries at its upper end a cylindrical cap 12 through which passes a bar 15 carrying stirrers 16 on flexible arms. The shaft 9 is supported in bearings 4, 8; the bearing 8 is protected by the disc 14 the periphery of which is turned down round the bush 7. There is a feed hoist 39 operated by a motor 29 and discharging into the filling hopper 48; discharging means are provided at 47.
