Abstract

874,633. Batteries. MARCONI INSTRUMENTS Ltd. Jan. 8, 1960 [July 22, 1959], No. 25136/59. Class 53. An accumulator cell is provided with a casing 6 enclosing a catalyst 8 for causing hydrogen and oxygen evolved on charging to re-combine. The casing 6 is provided with vents 7 and is sealed into the opening 11 of the cell. The cell is charged till oxygen and hydrogen are evolved and the charging process continued till all the air in the cell has been displaced by the evolved gases, whereupon the vents 7 are permanently sealed.
