Abstract

874,156. Radio receiver aerial arrangements; aerials. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. Aug. 10, 1959, No. 27334/59. Classes 40(5) and 40(7) Wireless or television receivers adapted for V.H.F. reception, comprise a built-in aerial consisting of trim wire elements 3 made of metallic strips, braid or other conductive material, preferably insulated, lying on the outer surface of the receiver cabinet 1. The trim element 3 may form a mono-pole aerial with the end 3a connected to the receiver. A number of parallel trim wire elements may be employed to form loop or frame type aerials. A further trim wire element 4 may be provided for decorative purposes only. The effective length of the trim wire elements 3 may be arranged to correspond to a quarter wavelength and a number of trim elements of different effective lengths may be utilized to provide selective aerials for different wavelength ranges.
