Abstract
874,098. Poultry, eviscerating. EVANS, J. E. May 25, 1960 [April 28, 1959], No. 14491/59. Class 28 (2). A fowl is eviscerated by pressing the vent against a rotated circular cutter 9 and then transferring the vent to a suction nozzle 72 which sucks out the viscera which is intercepted by a perforated curved deflector plate 30, Fig. 2, which deflects the viscera down and. out at a pivoted closure flap 31. After locating the vent against the cutter 9 pedal 33 is depressed to start motor 2 to rotate the cutter and actuate the suction piston 24 to move forward and pressurize a box 26 and open valve 32. Reverse movement of piston 24 allows valve 32 to close to create a vacuum in cylinder 28 and box 26 to suck out the viscera. Pedal 33 is released to switch-off motor 2 and open flap 31. A modified apparatus is also described.
