A starting strip for a strip casting mould comprises a metal headpiece 2 on a flexible strip 1 of rubber, plastic, textile material or braided asbestos. The flexible strip is fed between the draw-out rollers below the casting mould, the exit end of which is closed by the headpiece 2. Specification 873,972 is referred to.
