Abstract

873,045. Personal sanitary conveniences. JOYNER, J., and FRANKLIN SONS Ltd., J. G. Dec. 10, 1957 [Dec; 12, 1956], No. 37956/56. Class 26. A personal sanitary convenience comprises a flexible urine-receiver 1 and a sheath 9 having an outward peripheral flange 12 from which an end band-like ring portion 3, 14 projects adapted to be elasticallyexpanded to grip round a stiffer outward receiver flange 7 without substantially-distorting or elastically-expanding the rest of the sheath 9. At the same time an outward preformed internally-opening, channel-shaped ring flange 12, 14, which may be of acute or flattened U-shape in cross-section, is adapted to be everted around the flange 7, in which may be embedded a ring 8 or rings. The conical portion 10 of the sheath 9 may be annularly-corrugated. The flange 7 may be at the mouth of a funnel part of the receiver 1, the smaller end being secured to a urine receiver with a valve outlet or to an intermediate bag, communicating therewith. The funnel has straps for fastening to a waist belt. At the smaller end, a two-part, component 2 is sealed, one with a male screw-thread complementary to a screw component 4 on the bag 3, a sealing ring 5 intervening, a sleeve 6, e.g. of rubber, being around the joint. Specifications 637,978, 667,012 and 871,820 are referred to.
