Abstract

872,850. Preventing rattling of windows. CLAYTON-WRIGHT Ltd., HOWARD. Feb. 13, 1959 [Feb. 13, 1958], No. 4826/58. Class 20(3) Rattling between two relatively slidable members is prevented by the provision of a series of holes through a contacting surface of one of the members and a continuous line of raised stitching through the holes using a flexible material having the desired wearresistant properties. As shown, for a sliding window assembly 10, Fig. 3, the guide channel 15, e.g. extruded in plastics, the lower channel only being shown, each flange 11 is formed with a row of holes 12, Fig. 1, and a line of stitching, e.g. of 'nylon thread, 13 is provided through these holes to give a raised surface and rubbing surface for the movement of the window thereover. The stitching may be provided on one or both flanges 11 of the channel section and/or on the web 15. The holes may be formed in longitudinally extending recesses 16. The guide channel may also form a weather seal.
