Abstract

Thermocouple elements are formed of alloys of copper and nickel having a ratio of amount of copper to amount of nickel within the range 60.5 : 39.5 to 57.5 : 42.5 and containing one of the following elements entirely in solid solution within the stated range in per cent by weight: Al 0.02-4.0, Sb 0.029-8.0, Be 0.013-1.0, Cr 0.005-2.0, Co 0.02-2.0, In 0.102-3.0, Fe 0.008-2.0, Mg 0.03-2.0, Mn 0.029-15.0, Mo 0.007-2.0, Nb 0.009-2.0, Si 0.01-4.0, Ta 0.02-5.0, Te 0.061-1.0, Sn 0.046-5.0, Ti 0.009-2.0,W 0.014-2.0, V 0.005-1.0, Zr 0.092-3.0. More than one of the stated elements may be included the minimum proportions then being as follows, Al 0.01, Sb 0.01, Be 0.005, Cr 0.001, Co 0.01, In 0.02, Fe 0.001, Mg 0.01, Mn 0.01, Mo 0.001, Nb 0.001, Si 0.005, Ta 0.01, Te 0.02, Sn 0.01, Ti 0.005, W 0.005, V 0.001, Zr 0.02.
