The parts of a dolly-operated switch are retained in position solely by recesses in a base 1 and cover 50 which are held together by a spring clip 39 which also forms the means of mounting the switch on a plate. Resilient arms 18 and 19 co-operate with contacts 20 and 21 of resilient strip material and are operated by a dolly 22 in known manner. A leaf-spring 40 retains the dolly 22 in its operated positions. The spring clip 39 is stamped from a rectangular piece of resilient sheet material and has an opening 41 located on an upstanding portion 42 of the cover 50 and flanges 43 and 44 fit on the edges of the cover 50. The ends of the clip 39 are stamped to provide arms 45, 46, 47 and 48 for fitting against the surface of the mounting-plate while the portions 49 and 51 are shaped as shown (Fig. 6) to grip the edges of the aperture in the mounting-plate. Central tongues 52 and 53 engage under lugs 54 and 55 provided on the base 1 and retain the cover and base in position. Alternatively the switch may be mounted by springing the arms 45 to 48 into slots provided in projections on the back of the switch-plate. The portions 49 and 51 may be cut completely away and the central tongues 52 and 53 shaped to grip the edges of the mounting aperture as well as the lugs 54 and 55 (Figs. 8 and 9, not shown).
