Class 120(3) Yarn comprising bulky portions disposed at intervals along its length is produced by feeding a continuous filament yarn e.g. of cellulose derivatives such as cellulose acetate, polyhexamethylene adipamide, polyaminocaproic acid or polyethylene terephthalate, through a jet as described in the parent Specification, the pressure at which gas e.g. air or moist steam, is supplied to the jet being such as to maintain continuous supply of the initial yarn but cause intermittent bulking. A single yarn (or intertwisted ends which may differ in colour and lustre) of high or low twist (more than 2À5 or less than one turn per inch) may be fed to the jet via an inlet orifice of dimension sufficient only to permit free passage of the yarn; on emerging from the jet, the bulked yarn may impinge against a baffle plate and/or additional twist may be imparted. The Provisional Specification describes collection and subsequent withdrawal of the bulked yarn in and from a continuously rotating centrifugal pot e.g. as described in Specification 17,377/57. The yarn product may comprise the whole or part of the warp or weft or both in a woven fabric. Specifications 776,410 and 793,044 also are referred to.
