[Also in Group XXV] In a conveyer chain of oval-link type, e.g. a slat conveyer chain having slats 8 secured to alternate links 1 of the chain, the links 1 are formed as open links for connection by closed links 5, each open link 1 having a portion cutaway of such size that the closed links connected to it must be moved longitudinally and through an angle of elevation or (as shown) depression to their normal line of travel to release them from the open link.
