An anti-icing mixture for liquid fuels of the gasoline boiling range comprises an N- alkyl substituted alkylene diamine having at least one alkyl group of at least 10 carbon atoms, and an aliphatic diol, the weight ratio of diol to amine being from 2:1 to 40:1. The additive may be dissolved in solvent naphtha, kerosine or gasoline, and may be added to the fuel to produce a fuel containing 5 to 200 p.p.m. of the amine and 50-500 p.p.m. of the diol. Preferred amines are substituted propylene diamines where the N-alkyl group is a straight-chain radical of 12 to 18 carbon atoms, and mixtures of substituted alkylene diamines obtained from coconut oil-, soya bean oil- or tallow oil-fatty acids, or lauric acid. Suitable diols include 2-methyl-2,4-pentanediol, 2-ethyl-1,3-hexanediol, 4-oxa-2,6- heptanediol, 3-thia-1,5-pentanediol, 2,2-bis- (hydroxymethyl)propane and 3,3-bis-(hydroxymethyl)-pentane. The fuel may also contain anti-knock additives, e.g. tetraethyl lead, iron carbonyl, methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl, xylidine and N-methylaniline, scavengers, e.g. ethylene dibromide or dichloride, dyes, sparking plug anti-foulants, e.g. tri-cresyl phosphate, combustion deposit modifiers, e.g. aryl and alkyl boronic acids, cyclic organic borates, or lower alkyl phosphates and phosphites, oxidation inhibitors, e.g. N,N<SP>1</SP>-di-sec-butylphenylenediamine, N-nbutyl-p-aminophenol or 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4- methylphenol, metal deactivators, e.g. N,N<SP>1</SP>- disalicyl-l,2-propanediamine, and corrosion inhibitors, e.g. polymerized linoleic acids.
