Abstract

868,813. Machines for moulding dough &c. ATLAS EQUIPMENT (LONDON) Ltd. Aug. 14, 1959 [May 14, 1958], No. 15555/58. Class 87(2). [Also in Group VI] A dough-stamping machine comprises a table capable of intermittent reciprocating v er t i c a l motion, propelling means capable of reciprocating horizontal motion coordinated with the said motion of the table so that pie tins or foil cups &c. can be moved intermittently along the table by said means, and dough stamping means situated and adapted to shape dough or paste portions in the tins or cups &c. Rotation of a cam disc 72 causes, via followers 73, 80 and racks 77, 84, inner and outer rails 86, 85, which pivotably support transverse holding bars 24 and propelling bars 23 respectively, to move forwardly and with the table 22 in its elevated position a row of tins gripped between the forks 95 of the propelling member and the adjacent bar 24 is moved along the table to an operating position, e.g. on to the upper surfaces of the inner stamps of a dough stamping station 27. Further movement of cam disc 72 causes bars 23 to move backwards and bars 24 forwards so that the tins are disengaged and then raised supported by inner and outer stamps on rotation of a crank so that a quantity of dough in each tin is moulded against an upper heated die assembly ; the stamps then being lowered. On rotation of cam 48, shafts 65, 66, 67 supporting table 22 are lowered and bars 23 and 24 move backwards over the tins ; the table is then raised and bars 24 move backwards and bars 23 forwards so that the tins are again engaged. The dough is fed into the tins, supplied from tindispensing unit 25, from a unit 26 which contains fluted rollers 251, 252, and rollers 253, 254 and intermittently extrudes the dough through five orifices 255 knives 256 cutting off predetermined lengths. A filling station 28 for the pies may be incorporated in the machine and in Fig. 20 (not shown), a lidding station is depicted working on the same principle as the dough stamper. Delivery means 29 at the delivery station comprises a plate 280 which collects the filled tins from the table 22 and then executes a sudden horizontal movement to drop them on to a baking sheet on a conveyer 285. In the delivery means of Fig. 21 (not shown), the tins are first pushed in crocodile formation on to a transverse conveyer and then on to baking sheets on a longitudinally moving conveyer.
