Abstract

867,457. Seats and resilient mountings therefor. MILLER Inc., H. Feb. 6, 1959 [Dec. 1, 1958], No. 4326/59. Classes 52(1) and 52(2). A moulded resin chair 10 has a shell seat member 12 with central portion 14 and ascending arm portions 18 flared outwardly to form attachment pads 21 for arm rests 28 forming part of a moulded back rest member 26 and adhesively bonded to the pads 21 to form the sole support for the back rest. The shell 12 is supported by leg support means 34 having a spider bracket 35 with a resilient mount 36 at the end of each arm and bonded to member 12 by adhesive. In a modification Fig. 12 a chair 40 has a seat shell 42 identical to shell 12 but the backrest member 57 is supported on each side by a rod member 59 with a terminal fitting 60 having ball-headed prongs received in resilient cups 63 bonded to shell 57, the rod 59 being connected to pad 21 by a rigid block 74 adhesively bonded to the pad.
