Abstract

866,595. Dynamo-electric machines. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 21, 1957 [Nov. 29, 1956], No. 36563/56. Class 35. A plurality of stacked electrical conductors forming a dynamo-electric machine conductor bar are electrically insulated by a method comprising the steps of applying along the length of the top, bottom and side faces of that part of the bar to be received in a core slot, felt or mat 11 ... 14, Fig. 5, of heat-resisting material which has been resin impregnated before application, and then heat treating the bar to consolidate the felt or mat into a homogeneous mass surrounding the bar. The felt or mat may be of glass fire or asbestos in strip form and, as shown in Fig. 1, is applied to a Roebel-type stator bar comprising two columns 1, 2 of conductors between which and at the top and bottom of which partitions 3, 6 and wedges 5 respectively of similar material are applied. The bar dimensions are determined by stops in a press (not shown) which applies vertical or horizontal pressure to the bar.
