Abstract
866,493. Batteries. YARDNEY INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION. May 7, 1957 [May 7, 1956; June 18, 1956; April 3, 1957], No. 14571/57. Class 53. A storage battery electrode consists of a conductive support coated with active material the weight of which exceeds the weight of the support and of which 1 gram covers at least 10 sq. cms. of the support, the total effective area of the support being not less than five times the projected area. The support may consist of several layers of wire 12 on a core 13 of paper, plastic, or other non-conductive material, as shown in Fig. 1, or alternatively a sheet of expanded metal may be used for the support: The active material may consist of zinc which may be deposited by electrolysis on the support which may be made of copper, silver, tin, lead, brass or cadmium amalgamated with mercury.
