Abstract

865,607. Pressure-actuated transfer paper. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. Jan. 21, 1960 [Feb. 4, 1959], No. 2197/60. Class 96. A smudge-proof pressure-actuated transfer paper comprises abase sheet 1 preferably of porous tissue paper carrying an under-coat 2 of capsules of microscopic size, the solid walls of which are ruptured by writing pressure or typeimpact so that solvent liquid thus released dissolves the outer colour coating 3, so that a paste is formed some of which is transferred to a copyreceiving sheet by the same pressure as that which ruptured the capsules. The coating 3 may consist of a dye, e.g. an azo-oil-blue-black which has been dissolved together with chlorinated rubber in e.g. diethyl benzene, carbon tetrachloride, dichloro-ethane, toluene, or xylene. The capsules are made in a known manner, e.g. using gum arabic and gelatine, and diethylbenzene, and hardened with formaldehyde.
