Abstract

864,646. Tunnels. DE STAAT DE NEDERLANDEN. Dec. 13, 1957 [Dec. 15, 1956], No. 38827/57. Class 85. A tunnel especially for subaqueous traffic and made from prefabricated sections comprises an inner wall 1 of prestressed concrete provided with a yielding water-tight layer 2 and an outer wall 3 of reinforced concrete. In the traffic space air ducts 5, 6 are provided and a duct 7 for cables and lines. The sections may be joined together by end flanges 9, Fig. 3, coated with steel 10 and extending into the outer wall. A porous water-carrying layer may be provided between the outer wall 3 and the water-tight layer 2. The layer 2 may be asphalt reinforced by fabric and the porous layer may be made of heavy felt paper.
