Abstract

864,040. Electrophotographic development. ZINDLER, W., [trading as LUMOPRINT ZINDLER KOMM.-GES.]. July 17, 1957 [Sept. 11, 1956], No. 22267/59. Divided out of 861,943. Class 98(2) A developing apparatus for an electrostatic latent image on a photoconductive insulating layer comprises a guide surface for holding a pile of developer powder, unperforated retaining walls for retaining the powder on the guide surface and means for urging the layer to be developed against a downwardly inclined section of the guide surface so that the layer passes beneath the pile of developer powder. In Fig. 1, the guide surface 54 holding powder 53 has unperforated retaining walls 57 on either side. The rollers 58, 59 are arranged so that the layer 60 to be developed is urged against the section 52 and passes beneath the pile of powder. In Fig. 2, the powder is held by unperforated retaining walls 66, 67, and the guide surface 64 is concave in a direction transverse the direction of advance of the layer. The layer is urged against the downwardly sloping part of the guide surface by drawing air through holes 70 with a fan 73. An agitator 68 is provided in the developer pile 65.
