Abstract
The invention comprises vinyl-chlorohexafluorocyclobutane having the formula: <FORM:0863721/IV (b)/1> which can be prepared by reacting the compound of the formula: CF2=CF CF2 CH2 Br which the compound of the formula CF2=CFCl at about 200,C. and dehydro brominating the resulting compound of the formula Cl CF CF2 CF2 CF CH2 CH2 Br. In an example the first step of the process is effected in an autoclave and the dehydrobromination is carried out with ethanolic potassium hydroxide. The product of the invention forms silicon-containing adducts with compounds containing silicon-bonded hydrogen and also takes part in conventional vinylic polymerisation reaction (see Group IV(a)).
