861,887. Electrophotographic apparatus. ZINDLER, W., [trading as LUMOPRINT ZINDLER KOMM.-GES.]. March 8, 1957 [March 12, 1956], No. 38287/59. Divided out of 855,727. Class 98(2) The invention relates to an apparatus consisting of a housing containing the necessary components for producing copies by transfer of the latent image from a photoconductive layer to a receiving sheet and for developing and fixing the transferred image on the sheet. As shown, the photoconductive layer 24 on a suitable backing is in the form of an endless band or a roll and is fed past charging electrodes 28, 34 to an exposure station where it is exposed by lamp 32 in transparent cylinder 30A to an original which has been inserted at 13. The receiving sheet is inserted at 14 and is pressed against the photoconductive layer 24 by electrode rollers 29, 35 between which a potential is applied to effect 'transfer of the latent electrostatic image to the receiving sheet. The latent image is developed on the sheet by powder 22 from a distributer roller 48, and is shaken on the support 43 by means of an eccentrically mounted disc 47. Infra-red lamps 52 serve to fix the image and the sheet may be prevented from curling during fixing by a wire screen or grid. A fan 19 cools the space above the heaters and blows warm air over the developer container to keep the powder dry. A small part of the air stream affects the powder as it falls from the distributer 48. A brush 57 removes dust from layer 24 which may be discharged by electrodes 30, 38. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 772,873.
