Abstract

861,675. Filtering gases. PUROLATER PRODUCTS Inc. Nov. 30, 1959, No. 40640/59. Class 8(2). A filter unit 10 comprises open ended inner and outer casings 12 and 11 respectively, having part of their side walls in contact and their bottoms spaced to form a chamber 26 therebetween and a side chamber 19 formed between the outer casing 11 and the indentation formed by the portions 16, 17 and 18 of the wall member 15 of the inner casing 12 communicating with the bottom chamber 26. The inner casing 12 has a side inlet 13 and bottom outlet 25 communicating with the chamber 26 and a pleated filter element 22 with a gasket 21 to seal the bottom of the filter 22. The outer casing 11 has an outlet adjacent the side chamber 19. A disc 27 seals the top of the filter element 22 pressure being applied through the removable cover 30 by the wingnut 33 on the end of the bolt 29, anchored to the centre of the recessed portion 24 and passing upwards through the disc 27, the gap between the disc and bolt being sealed by the grommet 28.
