Abstract

861,094. Binding-posts. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc. May 15, 1957 [June 4, 1956], No. 15484/57. Class 38 (1). Soldering terminals 11 are carried by a carrier 12 and secured in a base 10 by the engagement of the end of a lug 20 pierced out of the terminal with a surface 16 at the one side of a guideway 15 for each terminal, the lug being wedged in position by deforming the free end 17 of the terminal (Fig. 4) so that it is wedged against a sloping surface 16. A tool may be placed against the terminal against which it may be deformed (Fig. 8, not shown) or the base may have a member moulded on to it which has the contour of the tool. Alternatively (Fig. 10) the terminal 30 is given a reverse bend so that the surface 35 prevents its withdrawal in one direction from an aperture 28 in an insulating base 27, the terminal being secured as before by bending the end portion so that lug 33 bears against surface 29. The lug may further be a separate member welded to the terminal (Figs. 12 and 13, not shown) and the terminal may be provided with an aperture to facilitate bending (Figs. 14 and 15, not shown).
