860,713. Cam mechanisms. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO. Ltd. July 24, 1957 [Sept. 27, 1956], No. 29472/56. Class 80 (3). [Also in Group XXII] A member 2, such as the slide of a turret lathe tool holder 1, is reciprocated by a pair of cam drums 7, 10 cooperating with followers 4, 5 respectively on the slide. The drum 7 has a plurality of cam projections 6 on its periphery for engaging successively with the follower 4 for effecting successive feeding movements of the slide. The return movements of the slide are effected at greater speed by a single cam projection 9 on drum 10 which is driven at an appropriately higher speed than the drum 7 through gearing 11, 12.
