A shade for a lamp consists of a plurality of light reflecting and diffusing members bent longitudinally so as to form mutually inclined parts and arranged so that all surfaces of the members will be illuminated directly or by reflected light from a light source without allowing passage of unreflected light through the screen. In the form shown, a series of strips 1 of e.g. white enamelled sheet steel or of plastic are bent into V-shape and secured at their upper ends in a ring 2 having circumferentially spaced slots. Transverse slots in the strips 1 also engage a spider member 4 having a central aperture for a lamp holder 6.
