859,100. Bending glass sheets. LIBBEYOWENS-FORD GLASS CO. Sept. 3, 1958 [Sept. 26, 1957], No. 4802/60. Divided out of 859,058. Drawings to Specification. Class 56. A method of bending glass sheet is characterized by supporting the undersurface of the glass sheet at a point inwardly of the ends and above a movable portion of a glass bending mould, heating the glass sheet to a temperature at which it will bend, simultaneously, while supporting the undersurface, applying forces to opposite edges of the glass sheet to restrain the sheet from shifting during bending and lifting the movable portion of the mould upwardly to shape the sheet, to terminate the undersurface support and simultaneously to terminate the edge forces acting on the sheet. The apparatus disclosed is identical with that described in Specification 859,098.
