Abstract

859,095. Tape dispensers. THOMSON, W. L., and GRIST, R. Dec. 17, 1958 [Dec. 18, 1957], No. 39414/57. Class 18. An adhesive tape dispenser of the kind in which s spool of tape 2 is mounted on a cylindrical support or drum 1 between a pair of parallel end walls 5, 10 is characterised in that one end wall 10 is pivotally attached at 9 to a distance piece 7 so that the wall 10 can be swung out of alignment with the wall 5 and away from the end of the drum 1, the wall 10 being releasably locked with the drum 1 against pivotal movement when the walls 5, 10 are aligned. When the tape is pulled off the spool 2 it passes between the distance piece 7 which carries a serrated blade 8 and a guide post 12. The drum 1 has a spring leaf 3 projecting through a slot 4 to effect a braking action on the core of the spool 2. The end wall 10 is made of resilient material e.g. high impact polystyrene or metal and it may be locked on a seat provided by stepping the periphery of the drum 1.
