Abstract

A pressure transferable ink composition for duplicate printing and writing comprises a solid base material consisting essentially of a vinyl polymer, a plasticizer therefor which is nonvolatile and non-drying and soluble in the same solvent as the polymer but non-miscible with the polymer, and which consists of a semi-solid paste which is substantially non-flowable at room temperature, and a quantity or colouring matter such as carbon black or alkali blue. The polymer may be a vinyl-chloride vinyl acetate copolymer, polyvinyl butyral or polyvinyl acetate. The plasticizer preferably comprises as a major ingredient petrolatum, lanolin or a hydrogenated vegetable oil, and may also contain a nonvolatile mineral oil or a non-volatile, non-drying vegetable or animal oil. The composition may be mixed with volatile ingredients such as toluene and ethyl acetate to give a composition having suitable viscosity for coating a foundation sheet or web at room temperature.
