Abstract

A plastic composition comprises a mixture of 5 to 90% by weight of a vinyl halide homopolymer or copolymer containing more than 50% of combined vinyl halide and lesser amounts of mono-olefinic monomer, and 10 to 95% by weight of a graft polymer comprising 29 to 67% by weight styrene and 10 to 30% acrylonitrile polymerized in the presence of 23 to 60% by weight of a polymer of butadiene and 0 to 25% of styrene, based on the weight of the butadiene, polymerized therein. Vinyl halides specified are vinyl fluoride, chloride and bromide which may be used in the form of their homopolymers or copolymers with monomers such as vinylidene chloride, vinyl acetate, propionate and benzoate, acrylic and alkacrylic acids and their esters, amides and nitriles, maleic and fumeric esters, isobutylene, styrene, chlorostyrene, ethylstyrene, vinyl napthalene, vinyl pyridine, vinyl alkyl ethers and vinyl alkyl ketones. The examples describe the use of polyvinyl chloride and vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymers. and the conversion of the resulting mixtures into sheet form.
