857,742. Auxiliary lamps for motor vehicles. SCHMIDT, D. Dec. 24, 1958 [Dec. 27, 1957], No. 41769/58. Classes 75(3) and 75(4). Auxiliary lamps to illuminate the roadway in front of a vehicle are mounted on a carrier formed as a forwardly projecting frame 2 which can be adjusted longitudinally in the direction of travel of the vehicle inside the contour determined by the cross-section thereof, on the front cross part of which frame lamps 3 pointing obliquely downwards and lamps 4 pointing vertically downwards are arranged at such a distance from the vehicle that they can be seen by the driver. Further lamps 5 directing their light transversely and lamps 6 directing their light vertically downwards may be mounted on the side members of the frame 2. The lamps may be simultaneously or selectively switched on. The frame 2 may be clamped on to the bumper bar 1 of the vehicle or be mounted so that it can be drawn out into the position for use from a resting position against the vehicle.
