In a roller-cutter for shearing plates 3, the axis of the cutting roller 1 is located ahead, in the direction-of-feed 8, of the axis 7 of a non- cutting supporting roller 4. The axis 6 of roller 1 is inclined to the plane of the plate to cut a bevelled edge, and both rollers may be driven to feed the plate. If the cutting roller has a toothed rim, roller 4 need not be driven. Roller-sizes are given, and additional supporting rollers 5 may be provided.
