Abstract

In the dyeing of textile materials with sulphur dyes, in an aqueous bath, the dyestuff is reduced and solubilised by treatment with hydrazine or hydrazine hydrate. The dyebath may also contain an alkali and wetting or dispersing agents. Dyeing is preferably effected at 70 DEG -100 DEG C., exhaustion of the bath being achieved by the addition of sodium chloride or sulphate. Oxidation of the reduced dyestuff may be effected with potassium dichromate or sodium perborate.
