856,180. Making gaskets. MANNING, MAXWELL & MOORE Inc. March 6, 1959 [Oct. 22, 1958], No. 7843/59. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XXVI] A metal sealing ring 6, preferably of steel, as shown in Fig. 3 (see also Group XXVI) is made by machining a groove 25 in one end of a hollow cylinder, cutting off sufficient length of the cylinder to form the ring 20, holding the ring 20 in a swaging block 28, Fig. 7, and finally turning the edges 26a, 27a inwardly by pressing the ring in a channel 31 in a die 30.
