Abstract
855,902. Automatic gain control arrangements. BLAUPUNKT-WERKE G.m.b.H. Aug. 27, 1959 [Sept. 3, 1958], No. 29283/59. Class 40(5). In a television automatic gain control circuit of the "keyed" type, in which differentiated line flyback pulses are applied to the anode of a grid controlled rectifier 1 the grid of which is driven with the video signal from the anode of video output stage 12, grid current is prevented by means of a diode 3. The automatic gain control voltage is obtained across a resistor 9 in the anode circuit of the rectifier 1. The cathode of the rectifier 1 is given a positive bias by means of potentiometer 16, 17 connected across the positive supply and the grid is biased by means of resistor 4 connected to a tapping point on resistor 16: if the potential of point 11 rises above that of the tapping point, diode 3 becomes non-conductive, so preventing grid current in the rectifier 1. In a modification, Fig 2 (not shown) the video waveform is applied to the cathode of the gridcontrolled rectifier and the delay bias to the grid, via a diode similarly poled so as to prevent grid current.
