Abstract

853,096. Erecting tower cranes. TICHAUER, M. May 21, 1959, No. 17350/59. Class 78 (4). Each section 1, Fig. 2, of the sectional tower of a crane, Fig. 8, is provided with hinged bracing enabling it to be placed round the jib element 7, when this has been raised to extend above the section below. As shown, Fig. 8, a pulley and cable may be used to raise the jib element 7. The jib element 7 may have a section substantially smaller than that of the supporting section, Fig. 5, and can be guided vertically by lugs 10. A platform for workmen can.be fixed to the bottom of the jib element. Alternatively the jib element can substantially fill the cross-section of the supporting sections, and may slide on inwardly facing pads fixed to the supporting sections. For transportation purposes the retractable bracing enables two supporting sections to be inversely interposed. The tower crane may be mounted on a trolley.
