Class 20(2) [Also in Group VIII] To prevent dampness in walls or other permeable parts of building structures they are treated with an aqueous based water repellant preparation which diffuses inwardly to set up a water repellant layer but allows evaporation of moisture, this is allowed to dry and the wall then treated with a non-aqueous based water repellant or water proofing preparation. The non- aqueous based preparation penetrates through the water repellant layer and into the dry wall beyond. The aqueous based preparation may be solutions of sodium or potassium methyl siliconate or of the alkali metal salts of hydrocarbon-substituted silane triols. This solution is applied by brush or spray. The non-aqueous based preparation may be paraffin wax or silicone resins in organic solvents with toluene or N-butanol to prevent precipitation during storage. This solution is sprayed at 30 to 50 lbs. per sq. inch or applied by brush for small areas. Specifications 621,970 and 738,693 are referred to.
