Abstract

The invention comprises 1-aminoindanes not further substituted in the 5-membered ring but containing in the benzene ring (preferably in the 5-position) an alkoxy group of more than 2 carbon atoms, and their acid addition salts, and the preparation thereof by catalytic hydrogenation of the oxime or an oxime ether of a correspondingly substituted indanone-1, in an organic solvent. The products have a dilatation effect on the coronary blood vessels. 5-Alkoxyindanone-1 oximes are prepared by the action of hydroxylamine hydrochloride on 5-alkoxyindanones-1. 5-Alkoxyindanone-1-oxime ethers are prepared by dialkylation of 5-hydroxyindanone-1-oxime. 5-Hydroxy-, 5-butoxy- and 5-hexyloxy-indanone-1 are prepared by cyclizing the corresponding m-substituted hydrocinnamic acids, e.g. by means of polyphosphoric acid. The 5-alkoxy compounds may also be prepared by etherifying the 5- hydroxy compound.
