Abstract

851,755. Fishing rods. SAPPHRITE Ltd., and DEASON, R. Feb. 19,1959 [Nov. 19, 1957], No. 35944/57. Class 48 A guide ring and sleeve assembly comprising two non-metallic rings 9 housed in a metal sleeve 17 is detachably engaged in the bore of a contractible clip 10 which is combined with a clip 11 adapted to engage the fishing rod 12, the two clips 10, 11 being actuated by common screws 13. The clips 10, 11 are formed integral in the shape of the numeral eight and the web 15 between the clips is bored to receive the clamping screws 13. Alternatively the two clips may be constituted by two similar clips having their clamping parts engaged by a common screw. The two rings 9 are spaced by a split or intact ring 16 and the ends of the metal sleeve 17 are spun over the peripheries of the rings 9. In a modified construction the clip 11 is smaller than the clip 10 and stays connect the larger clip 10 to a cylindrical or tapered split sleeve disposed coaxially with the smaller clip 11 and adapted to fit around the fishing rod. The split sleeve may be provided with a tubular extension which can be secured to the smaller clip 11.
