A spool or section beam consists of a tube 1 provided with a flange 2 having a boss 2a of the same diameter as the tube, whereby outward bending of the flange due to the pressure of the threads cannot produce a gap at the corner 4 in which threads might become trapped. The flange is secured in the tube by a glue chamber 6 or by welding at 3.
