Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0850003/IV(b)/1> (wherein R and R1 are lower alkyl groups with 1 to 6 carbon atoms or halomethyl groups wherein the halogen atom is a bromine or chlorine atom, and X is a bromine, chlorine or iodine atom), and the preparation thereof by reacting a compound of the general formula: <FORM:0850003/IV(b)/2> with phosgene and treating the chlorocarbonate formed with ammonia. Halogenated alkanols of the second general formula above may be made by reacting an appropriately substituted di-or tri-ol or pentaerythritol with a thionyl halide, or by cleaving with hydrogen halide an appropriately 3, 3-di-substituted oxetane, obtainable by dehydrohalogenation of an appropriate 1, 3-halohydrin.ALSO:Compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0850003/VI/1> (wherein R and R1 are lower alkyl groups with 1 to 6 carbon atoms or halomethyl groups wherein the halogen atom is a bromine or chlorine atom, and X is a bromine, chlorine or iodine atom) can be formulated in unit dosage form as tablets in admixture with suitable conventional adjuvants, or they may be encapsulated alone or admixed with an adjuvant. They may also be formulated for oral administration as aqueous-alcohol or oil solutions or oil water emulsions in the same way as conventional medicinal substances are made.
