Abstract
848,748. Cutting-out bottle caps. HOLLESEN, H. F. M. Nov. 12, 1958, No. 36359/58. Class 31 (1). [Also in Group XVI] In a method of punching bottle caps from thin aluminium bands advanced stepwise past punching tools two or more caps are punched simultaneously, each from a row in the lengthwise direction of the band, each successive punching being performed with a spacing corresponding to the size of the caps and the simultaneously punched caps of two adjacent rows being offset relatively to each other in the longitudinal direction of the band by more than a single space. The band 2 is printed before the punching operation with designs 4, 6 which are to appear on the completed caps and which are either contiguous or closely adjacent to each other. Two caps are simultaneously punched out of the band 2 at the positions marked I. The band is then advanced one step and a further two caps are punched out of the band at the positions marked II. Synchronization holes 3, 5 guide the advance of the band and ensure the correct positioning of the designs in relation to the punching-tools.
